Rectron roadshow to demonstrate advances in display technology
Technology
distributor Rectron has announced that it is to host roadshows around
the country in association with vendors Viewsonic, HP and AOpen. They
will take place in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town from 30 July to
1 August.
Top executives
from display manufacturer Viewsonic, and platform solutions vendor
AOpen will visit the country to demonstrate new advances in technology
to Rectron's reseller network. A highlight of the events will be the
launch of AOpen's new notebook computer - said to be the fastest
available on the P4 platform.
According to Mark
Lu, Rectron CEO, Viewsonic will demonstrate new advances in display
technology that will bring monitors within the resolution range of
digital cameras.
"Until recently,
limitations in display technology have restricted the number of pixels
that can be fitted onto a screen to well under 3 million, while
digital cameras can capture in excess of 6 million," explains Lu.
He says that with
the industry move from cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors to LCD
displays, this barrier is being removed. "LCD screens theoretically
have a potentially unlimited capacity to display pixels, but this is
dependent on the controlling chip. With the backing of industry giants
Intel and Microsoft, Viewsonic intends bringing Moore's Law to the
display industry - potentially doubling the number of pixels every 18
months," says Lu.
The distributor
will also announce advances in mobile technology from Viewsonic, which
Lu describes as "the next step for computing in a connected world".
Also on display will be HP's range of 39 new imaging devices. |
